Farm holiday in Schenna

The Staferhof was first mentioned in 1500 among the tributary goods of the manor of Schenna. The Staferhof has been managed by the same family since the 17th century. From the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century, it was a typical Schenner farm, with cattle farming, arable farming, orchards and viticulture. In the 1970s, there was a specialization as a pure fruit farm. During these years it was recognized that the sunny but not too warm slopes of Schenna are particularly suitable for growing apples. Due to the cool nights, the apples color particularly well, but still remain fresh and crisp. The remaining vineyards of the Staferhof, which have existed for several hundred years and are located on the warm and steep slopes of Schenna above the valley floor, were only replanted a few years ago with the autochthonous grape varieties "Vernatsch" and "Pinot Blanc".
