The farm
The farm is nestled among green forests, species-rich mountain meadows and soothing silence above the village of Eggen in Eggental valley. Surrounded by unspoilt nature, it is a place to arrive, take a deep breath and switch off. The Pichler family, who have run the farm with great dedication for generations, welcome you and invite you to leave everyday life behind. At the Grotthof, time passes more slowly – more consciously, closer to nature. Tradition and modernity combine here to create a retreat for body and soul.
A 90-hectare spruce forest belonging to the farm and untreated meadows with rare plants characterise the landscape around the farm. Our Galloway cattle, chickens, peacocks and quails are fed with hay and nutritious grasses from the farm, while vegetables and herbs are grown gently in the garden. Sustainability and respect for nature are part of our everyday life – the farm has been certified organic since 2020.

Location & arrival
Arrival
Take the Bolzano North exit. Drive in the direction of Bolzano and after 1 km at the roundabout take the third exit onto Eggental SS 24. After about 11 km you will reach the hamlet of Birchabruck. There you turn right onto the SS 620 in the direction of Deutschnofen. After a 1 km drive you will reach the hamlet of Stenk. There, after the Hotel Mondschein, turn left onto the SP 76 in the direction of Eggen. After about 2 km you will reach a crossroads where you have to turn left onto the SP 23 to the village of Eggen. Good to know: The Grotthof is already signposted there for the first time!
Drive past the church and take the second driveway to the right at Haus Villa Gottfried in the direction of Grotthof. The Grotthof is also well signposted here!
Follow the road. After exactly 1.3 km you will reach the Grotthof.
